Academic success depends upon a student's ability to read effectively. Our Reading and Study Skills course trains students to read faster, think more clearly, evaluate critically, and retain text material longer.

THE PROGRAM IS:

EFFECTIVE: The techniques presented are sound and practical. The ideas taught are logical and powerful in application.

DIRECTED: to students' needs. Each technique is immediately applied to their own textbooks and novels. We help students reach their full potential by developing their reading and analytical skills. These skills will help anyone read and learn more effectively, even after formal education is completed. While in school, students can utilize the methods in virtually all academic subjects.

RECOGNIZED: by leaders in education. Our programs are presented regularly at over 100 schools and colleges in the eastern half of the United States (Maine to Florida, Atlantic Coast to the Mississippi River and sometimes beyond).

Our Reading & Study Skills course trains them step by step in the development of all these tools

Active participation in that process is the key to success. Our program centers on daily reinforcement and direct, practical application of the skills and strategies. CANDIDATES FOR THE COURSE

The Learning Skills Reading and Study Skills Course focuses on the careful, analytical reading that all students face in their text assignments. During the program students are taught not simply to read more efficiently, but to evaluate what they are reading more critically, and to retain what they have learned longer. The ideas presented in the course are logical, powerful tools that can be used effectively by students at all levels. The program is not just for "poor" students; no matter how well or poorly a student might be reading now, this course provides the skills and training a student needs to get the most out of his or her abilities.

EVALUATIONS

At the end of the program, each student receives from the Learning Skills teachers a report discussing his or her progress. Recommendations for continued work are made, relating directly to the reading techniques, comprehension skills, and study methods practiced in the course.

Will this course guarantee straight "A’s"?
Of course not, and be extremely suspicious of any educational program that guarantees straight "A’s". Like the reading rate and comprehension program, this course requires daily attendance and significant effort to achieve positive results. The techniques do work, but they have to be applied by the student consistently to help them achieve solid grades.
